Tanker rollover collision involving four other vehicles occurred. All lanes of the southbound I-5 collector distributor just south of I-90 (MP 165) were blocked.

  • All lanes of the southbound I-5 collector distributor just south of I-90 (MP 165) were blocked.

10:13 a.m.

  • IRT on scene.

10:22 a.m.

  • Fire on scene.

10:25 a.m.

  • Communications and maintenance staff arrived in the TMC.

10:30 a.m.

  • WSDOT personnel at the site of the field incident command post as command post begins to be set up.

  • NW Region EOC sends out notification that they are activated.

10:33 a.m.

  • TMC notified command post set up.

10:43 a.m.

10:45 a.m. Initial Operational planning period

  • Emergency Operations Center.

    • Staff present.

      • Dave McCormick, Chris Johnson, John Case, Steve Rockwell, Rodney Jarrells, Morgan Balogh.

      • Set up half hour operational planning periods and status reports.

      • IRT Branch and Area 5 branch coordinated staffing plans and identified locations needed for supplementing the initial closure points.  All field staff for initial closure in conjunction with WSP were identified and tracked.  The Safety Officer reviewed the safety plans. 

      • Communications were established with the SDOT EOC managers

      • Best long term closure points were established.

      • Planning for Express lane Operations begun.

    • Northwest Region Executives were present.

10:46 a.m.

  • Boeing Fire in route with AFFF fuel fire suppression response.

10:48 a.m.

  • Initial Road Closure points were revised to the best detour locations.

  • All lanes of northbound I-5 were closed at the West Seattle Bridge.
